Finding the best gifts for dogs can take FOREVER. Whether you are shopping for dog Christmas gifts or dog birthday presents, your eyes start to glaze over when you realize there are thousands of dog toys to choose from.
This article will make buying dog presents easy – and FUN! I’ve searched all over the internet for unique dog toys that will make the best gifts for dogs this holiday season.
Take a look at some of the cool ideas I found – I’ll bet there will be at least one or two on this list that jump out as a gift your dog will love!
How to Find Good Gift Ideas for Dogs
The best dog gifts are ones that are new and different from your dog’s current toys. It might mean a new shaped stuffie, or a toy with a novel new squeaker sound.
Sometimes you stumble on a brand new type of toy that your dog goes crazy for!
Think about what your dog likes to do most. Do they like to:
Look for toys that match your dog’s personality.
Don’t forget that “gut feel” too. I can’t begin to tell you how much money I have wasted buying my dog presents with 5 star reviews even though I didn’t have that “he would LOVE this!” initial response. Sure enough, the dog had no interest in it.
Don’t buy something just because the product gets great reviews. If your gut feel is that your dog might be bored, you’re probably right.

Frisco Hide and Seek Guacamole Toy
Hide and seek toys aren’t a new concept, but these fun designs are! This guacamole bowl made me laugh.
A toy like this keeps your dog entertained and give them mental stimulation. Just remember this type of toy is not for chewers.
Frisco Hide and Seek Hot Cocoa Toy
Take this hide and seek toy out for the holiday season! Rotating hide and seek toys is a highly effective way to keep your dog from getting bored, and seeing it lying around your house will put you in a holiday mood!
Frisco Advent Calendar for Dogs is a great gift for small to medium size dogs – the toys seem like they would be too small for large dogs. Super cute idea to make the holidays fun for your dog!
I thought this Chuckit Breathe Right Ball and Stick Set was a unique idea. As the pictures show, each toy is made with ventilation that makes it easier for your dog to breath when they are running with it in their mouth.
If you have a dog that runs itself ragged playing fetch, these toys may enable them to play longer before getting out of breath.
If you are bringing a dog present to someone’s house, The Antler Box Organic Elk Antlers is a nice choice. The antlers come in a sharp-looking box lined with dried grass; just put a bow on it and it’s ready to go! The antlers are USA sourced, naturally shed, organic antlers.
The Orbee Tuff Mazee Ball is a great dog present. It is made of nontoxic, 100% recyclable BPA and phthalate free plastic, and is manufactured in the USA. This keeps your dog busy, stimulates their brain, and is a great way to feed them their meals.
I think the maze design is very unique; it makes it a bit more of a challenge then the typical ball-with-holes feeding toy.
The Orbee Tuff Planet Ball is also BPA and phthalate free plastic and made from 100% recyclable materials in the USA. The ball glows in the dark and floats, so is great for nighttime play and swimming – and is infused with peppermint oil to help your dog have fresh breath! Good for aggressive chewers.
The Becoball Rope Toy is a great natural dog toy. The rope is made from recycled cotton, and the rubber is sustainably harvested from the trunk of a rubber tree.
I love it because the rope makes it easy to grab, plus I can throw it farther for my dog. It comes in different sizes and colors.
I thought the Starmark Treat Ringer was a really novel idea! The chew rings on the toy are made from natural ingredients, and both the toy and chews are made in the USA.
I did read reviews from people with aggressive chewers whose dogs went through the rings too fast or damaged the plastic on the toy, but the majority said their dogs love it and it kept them busy.
The most economical way to buy Starmark Treat Ring Replacements for the Treat Ringer was a “4-pack” of the treat-ring replacements package. It was a bit confusing on Amazon, but if you read the reviews it clarifies 4-pack mean 4 packs of 16 rings apiece.
The Starmark Everlasting Treat Bento Ball is another novel chew toy idea. The chew inside is made from natural ingredients (I could pronounce them all!), and the rubber is free of latex, vinyl and phthalates. When I looked up the preservative ingredient (sodium diacetate) I found out that it is dried vinegar.
I like how the chew piece is hard for the dog to get its jaw around; that will make it last longer. You can also put dog treats in the ball under the main chew piece for even more stimulation for your dog.
The Bento Ball Treat Replacements come in 5 different flavors:
Wheat Free Chick’N
I think the Top Dog Sweet Potato Dog Chew Toy was the most unique toy I found. The toys are made in the USA from GMO-free human grade sweet potatoes on a chemical-free hemp rope.
This one is going to be in both of my dogs’ stockings!
I know a knotted rope isn’t a “unique” dog toy, but an all natural one is! The Good Dog Company Natural Hemp Rope is made of 55% hemp and 45% cotton fibers, making it a great natural toy for your dog to play with. The hemp fibers are good for your dog’s teeth and gums, and dogs supposedly love the smell and texture of hemp.
